USPTO Dismisses MAD Patent Claims Again
According to documents released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), the agency has rejected all claims by Mission Abstract Data (MAD) in its re-examination of two patents regarding studio digital storage and automation systems.
Mission Abstract Data has until January 19 to respond to the USPTO’s decision. However, the case may not be completely over: once the USPTO reviews the response, the government could either make a final “office action,” in which it finally rejects the patent claims or allows some of the claims to continue.
This may be good news for broadcasters, but as always, consult your legal counsel to see how this latest development may impact your particular situation.
