Advisory from Governor's Office on Media Credentials

1. Introduction

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will present his “State of the State” (SOS) address to the people of Michigan.  It is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM including the Democratic response.

The MAB will once again make this important message easily available to all stations.  With the momentum started on the recovery of our state, many of your regular audience members will be highly interested in the speech.

We encourage all members to carry the SOS address live, if at all possible on your main channel and or your digital channels as well as streaming it on your website.  If that is impossible please tape the feed and air it or stream it, in its entirety, at a more convenient time.  You may also wish to take the feed to include excerpts from it in your new if you have news programming product.

Technical information for both radio and television is below.

For those sending a production truck and reporter, you will need to reserve your own parking space by contacting the City of Lansing Parking Department.

We want to thank WJRT-TV for providing the uplink truck and satellite feed for this important address and WKAR-TV for providing the technical assistance for public television and radio.

Please fill out the SOS Carriage survey link by Jan 10th: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013SOS

The Governor’s office wants a report as to who will carry the message.

If you have questions contact Larry Estlack at the MAB 1-800-968-7622.

RADIO:

Michigan Radio Network affiliates can use the Farm Radio Network feed which will also be an audio feed of WKAR-TV's coverage.

Streaming: An audio stream of WKAR-TV’s coverage will be provided through the MAB website - information and links below.

*Specific ending time is somewhat open as we do not know how long the Governor’s address will be in advance.  If anything it could go less than designated time, so be prepared to have an announcer fill in.

3.  Streaming Audio

The MAB is providing a streaming audio feed for member radio stations that do not have access to a satellite feed.  The audio will be a simulcast of the public television feed via WKAR-TV/East Lansing.

The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm; however, due to the latency that exists with streaming audio (that can vary with each user's internet connection), reception of the stream at your end may occur 10-30 seconds after the 7:00pm start time.  Stations should be prepared to fill, if neccessary.
