Welcome to the official site of the MAB Foundation!

Thank you for taking the time to visit the MAB Foundation. It is our goal that this website offers you the resources and information you need to learn more about the MAB Foundation and our mission of preserving the history of broadcasting while encouraging future broadcasters through educational programs and events. Please feel free to search this site to learn what we are about. Contact us at mabf@michmab.com with any questions or suggestions.

We hope that you will consider joining us in our mission through a donation. This year, the MAB Foundation has made a specific goal to encourage even more individuals to choose a career in broadcasting by offering more scholarships, internships, career fairs, and unique educational events such as our Broadcasting Career Builder Conference. However, to accomplish this, we need your financial help. Click here to support our mission financially, or give us a call for more information - 800.968.7622!

  • Educator Highlight: The 2013 Station of the Year Goes to the Rams of Rockford
    posted on April 23rd, 2014

By: Jason Springer, TV Studio Technician/RCTV Station Manager, Rockford High School

All the preparation, time after school, giving up Saturdays, and leaving other classes all pays off for the Beyond the Rock class. Beyond the Rock has won the Station of the Year Award 6 times in the last 11 years, missing this years title by only 3 points.

Rockford High School has a large broadcasting program that has a sizable waiting list to even get in to the beginning level class. The program is taught by teacher Kris DeYoung and technician Jason Springer.

Our students use the Student Broadcast Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation to gauge their work against other students in similar programs. They start preparing soon after we get back from the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference, and end the morning of the deadline.
