Broadcasting Career Expos Information for Stations


To better assist stations with the current EEO requirements, the MAB Foundation will be holding a Broadcasting Career Fair in conjunction with the 2008 Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference & Expo on Tuesday, March 11.

This annual Career Fair is geared toward promoting a career in broadcasting among students and young professionals. Plan to take advantage of this opportunity and register to participate and become a co-sponsor of this event .

 

REGISTRATION

Space is very limited at this Career Fair and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate all of the call letters represented on the registration form. One Station Employment Unit (SEU) per one booth. Each booth is $250. Registration deadline is Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

PROMOTION

As a co-sponsor, you will be asked to offset the cost of the Career Fair as well as help to promote the Career Fair to listeners and viewers by airing announcements prior to and the day of the event. Your participation and specifically, airing your own PSAs, is vital to the success of this year’s Career Fair.

COST

Registration fee is $250 per booth and includes the following amenities:

  • One 6 ft. banquet table with a tablecloth and two chairs.
  • One table-top sign with your call letters/company name displayed.
  • An Exhibits Only GLBC registration for all station representatives. Please indicate all who will be attending on the registration form. (NOTE: Please register separately for the GLBC if you plan to attend the conference. Additional GLBC registration rates may apply. Visit www.michmab.com for details.)
  • A portion of the registration fee goes to support the MAB Foundation and its mission.


EEO OUTREACH

This program may provide you with the basis to claim a "menu option" outreach initiatives credit under the FCC's new EEO regulations. Specifically, the station representative in attendance must have hiring responsibilities at all of the stations represented. You should consult with your communications counsel to be sure. The MABF will present all participants with an official letter that you may wish to place in your EEO records along with other relevant materials such as PSAs, affidavits, promotional letter, etc.
