WOOD-TV Hosts Drive to Live Event
For the second year, Drive to Live was organized in response to a number of teen deaths on West Michigan roads. 24 Hour News 8 would like to thank all of the teens, parents and participants from the West Michigan community who again made Drive to Live a success.

This year, 24 Hour News 8 expanded opportunities for teens and parents to participate in Drive to Live by holding events in both Grand Rapids and Portage. We had more than a 1,000 teens from ages 13 to 18 participate and over 3,000 people, including parents and siblings, attend. This year's events not only gave teens hands on demonstrations and helpful tips to stay safe while behind the wheel but also informed them of the dangers of drinking and driving.

WUOM celebrates 60 year Anniversary
WUOM (Ann Arbor) is celebrating their 60th anniversary. The station signed on July 5, 1948 as the Universityof Michigan’s first radio station. WVGR (Grand Rapids) was added in December, 1961and WFUM-FM (Flint) was added in August 1985, all operating under the Michigan Radio branding.

University of Michigan was also the early pioneer in public television programming with the National Educational Television. The network was founded as the Educational Television and Radio Center (ETRC) in November 1952 by a grant from the Ford Foundation's Fund for Adult Education. It was originally a limited service for exchanging and distributing educational programs produced by local television stations to other stations; it did not produce any material by itself.

Help Further Education in Michigan
This summer, please consider devoting any unused inventory to help educate Michigan’s parents and grandparents about ways to save for college. With tuition rising every year, the State of Michigan offers various programs for parents to get ahead.

The Michigan Education Trust, or MET, is the nation’s first prepaid tuition program. MET was established in 1988 with the mission of helping more children afford college.

Today, more than 87,000 MET contracts have been sold and more than 90 percent of students with MET contracts go on to attend college. MET is currently at 50 percent of its 2007/2008 goal, with the current enrollment period ending August 31, 2008.

By running the MET TV ads from now until August 31, 2008, you will be helping parents get SET with MET! by locking into tomorrow’s tuition at today’s rates. Please help guarantee higher education for Michigan’s children!

Please email Linda@griggmedia.com if you need a copy of the MET commercial.
