Rigging For Communication Towers: A Summary Of Critical Requirements Per The Latest ANSI/TIA-222-G And The ANSI TIA-1019
Jean-Alain Lecordier, P.E, Tower Consultants, Inc. (11:00am-11:30am)
This session will cover basic information tower owners need to know to ensure a safe tower project. With the ANSI/TIA-222-G requirement for rigging documentation (Rigging Plan) to be furnished by the installer, it now more than ever critical to understand all the terms and definitions of a Rigging Plan. Rigging Plans are formulated to account for load on the rigging equipment and more importantly, load imposed on the tower during construction. A review of the Classification of Gin poles and the information required on a gin pole chart as well as important information on safety when accessing a tower structure for modifications, maintenance and equipment install or removal will be discussed.
Also discussed will be the new requirement as stipulated in the ANSI/TIA-222-G standard and ANSI TIA-1019 and explain basic rigging principles as well as critical maintenance requirement required to keep towers safe and to protect tower owners’ investment. The presentation will also address on-site safety practices and recommendation for a safe tower project. Using simple terms and example, the presentation will go over the main definitions, and explain the critical variables that encompass a rigging plan, as well as the importance of performing a structural analysis on towers whenever equipment is installed as well as removed. |

Reinventing Yourself for the New World of Work: 7 Bold Truths to Becoming a Market Leader
Jim Mathis, CSP
The economy isn't down; it's different, says Jim Mathis! With recent events, the realities of your business have changed permanently. You don't manage change, but rather the way you react to it. No matter what you sell, be it a product or a service, the next year is probably the end of the way most of us do business. 72% of the world's organizations will have to re-invent the way they do business in the next two years! The truth is that the business we're in is not determined by us but rather by the need or want that is satisfied when the customer buys our product or service. To be effective in today's global business climate you must see yourself from the customer's point of view. A product or service is a convergence of customer value satisfactions. Before you reinvent yourself and your organizational approach, you must identify these values as indisputable truths.
Key Points:
- The economy is not down; it's different. Leaders are different...
- The Recession will NEVER end; You need to adjust your viewpoint...
- People don't buy what you sell; they buy what they buy...
- To lead in your industry you have to get outside of it. Here's why and how...
- If you concentrate on your competition, you will have MORE competition. Why and what should we do?
- Teamwork doesn't always work. You must build community...
- If you fail to reinvent your business model you may be OUT of business in two years; there are two models you can use...
How You Will Benefit:
-Discover realities about your business and industry that you can’t see on your own
-develop a market-oriented environment that brings us closer to your consumer
-sell what your customers are buying, rather than what we are pushing to them
-respond positively to a cyclical recession model
-become a single category in your own industry
-reinvent yourself and your organization to compete locally and globally
-convert product-driven marketing efforts into value-driven marketing
-indisputable truths that will absolutely differentiate you in a global market and a challenging economy |

Next Generation IP-based Audio (1:30pm-2:00pm)
Leveraging standard protocols to simplify setup and promote sharing of audio over IP networks
Frank Grundstein, Logitek Electronic Systems
Networked audio consoles have a poor record of interoperability. Even if models have the ability to communicate, the complex setup and varying parameter choices by manufacturers effectively isolate one model of equipment from another. This is reminiscent of the early days of networking in the computer industry. Recently available protocols allow multicasting systems, like digital mixers, to automatically find and select the many settings required for network communication to work. Consoles can now find other audio equipment, negotiate communication methods and receive a list of available sources just by turning on the power. Some user groups have started requiring a minimum set of protocols in the networked equipment they buy. This growing demand by users will speed the adoption of standards by manufacturers and make it possible for consoles from a variety of manufacturers to send and receive audio with little or no user involvement either across the room or around the world. |

How To Steal Your Next Idea
Doug Harris, Creative Animal

Whether it's an account executive soliciting a customized promotion for a demanding client or programmer seeker a new way to engage the station's audience, it seems that someone is always dipping into the idea pool for The Big One.
During this laboratory style examination of the "science" of creativity, a former broadcast promotions director turned agency creative director turned idea wrangler shares his proven methods for stimulating creative thought in individuals and organizations. With a dose of escapism and a touch of music therapy, Doug Harris will explain you the two founding principles of creativity, present an amazingly simple four step process for generating ideas, and at least 33 tips on how you can ignite your creative spark TODAY.
