WWJ’s 18th Winter Survival Radiothon For THAW raises $416K in Heating Assistance

Entercom’s WWJ-AM (Detroit) held its 18th Annual Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW (The Heat And Warmth Fund) on February 12, raising $416,000 in Heating Assistance for Detroit area residents in need.  The 14-hour radiothon raised donations to keep families safe and warm this winter by bidding on items in the Online Auction. Many have generously donated a variety of exciting items.

This year’s radiothon succeeded, despite not having a phone bank room due to COVID concerns.  On-air, listeners heard powerful stories by a team that continues to drive THAW’s powerful mission from home.

The radiothon was presented with help from DTE Energy and Kroger, along with the assistance of other sponsors. THAW assists families in need by preventing utility shut-off, providing fuel or restoring services. Over 92 cents of every single dollar raised by THAW goes directly to those in need, and THAW’s utility partners match every dollar that THAW raises so that $1 becomes $2 in energy assistance.
